Apple TV is winning strongly at the 78th Emmy Awards, taking home 20 awards across the first two nights of the Creative Arts portion. AppleInsider reports that the comedy-horror series “Widows Bay” is the standout, winning eight awards, the most for any single program.
9to5Mac similarly says Apple TV leads so far, attributing much of its total to “Widows Bay,” which has begun to look like it could sweep major comedy-category prizes. Other Apple TV series also place well in the early results: AppleInsider reports “Pluribus,” a post-apocalyptic black comedy, wins four awards, while “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” wins three. Both sources describe the weekend’s announcements as part of the run-up to the Primetime Emmy ceremony, which is scheduled for September 14 and will cover the larger categories such as Best Drama and Best Comedy.
