A Delhi court rejects YouTuber Ajeet Bharti’s anticipatory bail plea in a case registered under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with related IT-law provisions. The order is passed by an Additional Sessions Judge, and the detailed judgment copy is expected later.

Both reports say the FIR is linked to a video Bharti posted discussing reservation policies, in which a complainant alleges caste-based abuse, objectionable remarks, and threats. The FIR is registered at Delhi’s North Avenue Police Station on August 23. Delhi Police oppose the plea, arguing it is not maintainable and that Bharti has no basis to fear arrest since an investigating officer has not issued notice.

Bharti’s lawyer argues that the remarks were made in response to “provocation” and are not casteist. The accounts also note the matter includes the IT Act (and, in one report, references provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), and that the offence carries a maximum punishment stated by police. The full reasoning behind the rejection is still awaited, depending on when the detailed order is released.
