The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) criticizes Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over remarks about former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi in the run-up to the 2027 presidential election. In an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief,” ADC spokesman Chizzy Enyi says Wike treats issues mainly as political battles.
Enyi’s response follows Wike’s statements that voters in Rivers State would choose President Bola Tinubu over Amaechi in 2027, when Amaechi is the ADC vice-presidential candidate. Wike also argues that Amaechi did little for Rivers State during his tenure as Minister of Transportation under the Buhari administration.
Both outlets report that Wike further claimed Amaechi would instruct supporters to boycott the election before 11 am on election day. Enyi rejects the need for further back-and-forth, saying Amaechi has chosen not to respond to Wike and asserting that “everything is politics” to him.
