Customs services at Terminal II of the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) are temporarily unavailable because of a telecommunications outage. Barbados Customs and Excise says the disruption prevents the processing of Customs payments and the clearance of general cargo.

Both outlets report that the issue is linked to problems with the telecommunications provider serving the area around Terminal II. The department indicates there is no estimated time for service restoration. As a result, affected cargo and payment processing functions cannot proceed through the terminal’s Customs systems until communications are restored.

While the outlets largely align on the cause and the immediate impact—interrupted payments and clearance—neither source provides further operational details, such as alternative procedures, the scale of affected shipments, or the duration of the outage. The reporting consistently frames the situation as an ongoing service disruption awaiting restoration of telecommunications services.
