Olympic champion sprinter Noah Lyles says an injury is forcing him to withdraw from the track Ultimate Championships this week, a meet offering $150,000 in top prizes. Lyles says he will not compete after pulling up with what he described as a hamstring issue during the 200 meters final at U.S. national championships in July.
In a social media post, Lyles says he found a “small strain” after that race. He adds that it caused other issues to “flare up” and that it has made it hard for him to keep practicing. World Athletics releases an entry list for the event, which starts Friday, and Lyles is not listed.
