A Boeing 767 cargo plane operated by Amazon Prime Air crash-landes in Miami on Sunday after overrunning the runway, killing at least five people. Investigators from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recover the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder, often called “black boxes,” a day after the crash.
NTSB chairwoman Jennifer Homendy says the two recorders are being sent for analysis at the NTSB’s headquarters in Washington. The crash involves the aircraft overshooting the runway during landing, then striking vehicles on the ground, including a van carrying seven people and another vehicle, according to reporting across outlets.
While outlets differ mainly in how they describe the timeline and where the recorders are delivered, they agree on the recovery of both devices and the purpose of sending them to the NTSB for evaluation as the investigation continues.
