Samsung and Apple trade places at the top of customer satisfaction in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Telecommunications, Cell Phone, and Smartwatch Study. In the cell phone category, Samsung scores 81 while Apple scores 80, with both companies having been tied the prior year. The overall cell phone industry score rises 1% to 79 after a 4% drop in 2025.

ACSI links higher satisfaction to new features that translate into everyday value without creating new drawbacks, citing battery life tradeoffs as an example. For the first time, ACSI measures how customers perceive AI features; the industry AI score is 85. The highest-rated cell phone experience elements remain basic phone calls and texting, each scoring 86.

Among flagship models, Samsung’s latest Galaxy S series leads at 84, followed by new iPhone owners at 82 and Google flagship models at 80. In foldables, Samsung records an ACSI score of 80, above Google (72) and Motorola (70). In smartwatches, Apple stays at 80 and Samsung drops 4%, resulting in a tie at the top.
