GE Vernova T&D India shares rise sharply after Power Grid Corporation of India declares the company its L1 bidder for a major high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission project. NDTV reports the stock jumps nearly 7%, while The Economic Times says shares gain up to about 8% to the day’s high on the BSE.

Power Grid’s decision relates to a 6,000 MW, ±800 kV HVDC transmission system that will evacuate renewable power from Barmer II in Rajasthan to South Kalamb. The Economic Times adds that Power Grid informs GE Vernova T&D India via a letter dated September 7 that it has emerged as the lowest bidder. The company does not disclose the contract value in its filing. The project includes two 3,000 MW HVDC terminal stations using line-commutated converter (LCC) technology and is approved by India’s National Committee on Transmission.

Across coverage, the differing emphasis is on market reaction and analyst views. The Economic Times also cites a post-announcement research update from Nomura raising its target price, alongside commentary from other brokerages on the company’s order prospects and execution outlook.
