Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila says the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary in Surulere Constituency I, Lagos State, is “peaceful, fair and orderly.” Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Gbajabiamila described the conduct of party members and the overall atmosphere during the exercise as impressive.
The assessment comes after incumbent lawmaker Desmond Elliott withdrew from the APC primary. Elliott’s withdrawal is linked to his claim that intimidation occurred against his supporters. Both reports describe the same primary event and the sequence in which Gbajabiamila later commented on the process.
While Elliott frames the primary through allegations of intimidation, Gbajabiamila presents a contrasting view of the election environment, saying it lacked disruption and proceeded in a smooth manner. The two outlets therefore cover the same contest in Surulere and the differing interpretations of how the primary was conducted, without adding further evidence to resolve the dispute.
