Cronos executes a controversial blockchain rollback after a large DeFi exploit, reversing nearly two hours of transaction history to recover user assets totaling about $111 million. The rollback is used by the network’s validators as a corrective action to undo the effects of the exploit.

According to Cronos, the reversal restores some affected activity, but not all funds are recovered. Both reports say the attackers still escape with about $9.19 million, which Cronos does not recover even after the rollback and network halt.

While both outlets agree on the timing and scale of the rollback and the remaining unrecovered amount, they differ in emphasis. One report frames the action as a recovery effort following an attacker’s theft, while the other focuses on the impact to transactions, including the fact that the rollback also reverses legitimate activity made during the same period.
