IIT Madras has opened applications for the October 2026 cohort of its School Connect programme for students in Classes IX to XII. The programme accepts applications until September 30, 2026, with courses starting October 5, 2026. School Connect is an eight-week online initiative aimed at helping students explore different disciplines before making key academic and career choices.
Across the coverage, outlets describe the programme’s curriculum as spanning 17 future-focused disciplines, including Data Science and AI, Aerospace, Cybersecurity, Law, Economics and Finance, and Mathematics and Computing. The courses are offered in English and Hindi, and students completing course requirements receive an IIT Madras e-certificate. Both reports also say the initiative is implemented through IIT Madras’ Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE).
One clear emphasis in the reporting is expansion of eligibility: this year, the programme includes Class 9 students for the first time, alongside Classes 10, 11 and 12. The articles link the Class 9 inclusion to providing earlier exposure to help students discover interests and better plan later subject choices. Both also cite the programme’s scale so far, with more than 1.75 lakh students benefiting since it began, and mention growing partnerships with thousands of schools.
