Apple releases iOS 26.6.2 as a minor update that fixes an issue preventing iPhone users from downloading software updates over a cellular connection. The same fix is also included in iPadOS 26.6.2. The update is rolling out now, with availability expected to expand over the next several minutes as it appears for more users.
The rollout targets iPhone 11 and newer models, according to MacRumors, and the update is installed through Settings > General > Software Update. Macworld also reports that iOS 26.6.2 contains only this single fix and that no additional, related fixes are listed on Apple’s security releases page.
Apple’s timing and upcoming software plans are also referenced by MacRumors, which notes that iOS 26.6.2 arrives about three weeks after iOS 26.6.1 and suggests iOS 27 may be announced around an upcoming event. Macworld expects iOS 27 next week but frames iOS 26.6.2 as an “one last update” before that release.
