GOG is expanding its preservation efforts by reintroducing “big box” era PC game packaging as downloadable items. The platform now offers fans 3D models and printable, foldable, high-resolution packaging scans for a small set of titles, aiming to recreate the shelf-display feel of physical PC releases.

So far, the “Printable Big Box” collection includes Armikrog, Descent, Hitman: Codename 47, Myst, and Star Trek: 25th Anniversary. On GOG store pages, these items appear under included “Goodies.” For owners, GOG provides a ZIP download that contains (1) a 3D box-art object for viewing on a desktop in an easy-to-open GLB format and (2) a flat printable template distributed in multiple formats such as PDF, SVG, and Adobe Illustrator.

Context comes from GOG’s broader Preservation Program, which focuses on keeping older games usable on modern PCs. Outlet coverage also highlights that the physical packaging cannot last as reliably as software, making scanning and reprinting a form of preservation.
