The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State rejects any alliance or collaboration with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), dismissing reports that a rival PDP faction has merged into the APM. PDP State Chairman Ibrahim Kashim Toro makes the declaration at the party’s secretariat along Maiduguri Road in Bauchi.
Toro says the group that announced a move to the APM is not part of the legitimate PDP in the state, arguing that the faction was expelled earlier and is therefore not recognised as PDP. He cites court judgments to support his claim that only his leadership represents the authentic PDP.
Both outlets report that Toro also outlines the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections, stating that PDP has fielded candidates for elective positions and that candidates’ names are uploaded on the INEC portal. He adds that statewide campaigns are expected to begin and urges supporters to ignore the rival faction’s announcement while mobilising for PDP candidates. Legal adviser Yahaya Garkuwa reinforces Toro’s position, reiterating that the PDP remains intact and has no plans to collaborate with the APM.
