The House of Representatives’ Public Accounts Committee (PAC) begins an investigation into outstanding oil-sector debts owed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Both reports say the liabilities are put at about ₦432bn (₦432.07bn in one account) and involve Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other oil companies.

The probe is triggered by findings reported to the committee regarding unpaid obligations to NMDPRA. While the reports agree on the scale of the debt and the parties involved, they focus on different framing: one outlet highlights the PAC’s commencement and the specific debt figure, while another emphasizes that both NNPCL and multiple oil firms are implicated in the ₦432bn NMDPRA liability.
