Benue State Police Command arrests 20 suspects over alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed banditry, and robbery, along with other criminal activities across the state. The suspects are paraded at the police headquarters in Makurdi by Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu, who says the arrests follow coordinated operations in different areas of Benue.
Police say the recovery includes three AK-47 rifles, 33 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, a Toyota Corolla, locally made firearms, and suspected criminal charms. The reports also cite specific incidents: a major breakthrough in Logo Local Government Area involving three armed suspects who are neutralised, and another suspect killed during an August 26 operation around the Ayilamo axis. Police add that an attempted armed robbery is foiled in Ayati village in Gwer-East on August 9, with a locally fabricated revolver and live ammunition recovered after the suspects escape.
Both outlets describe the investigation extending to a vehicle and motorcycle theft syndicate, and police operations reaching Dan-Anacha in Taraba State, where two Bajaj motorcycles and a Toyota Corolla are reportedly recovered. The police warn against illegal firearm possession and urge residents to provide credible information.
