The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) clears ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company’s proposal to acquire an aggregate holding of up to 9.95% in AU Small Finance Bank. AU Small Finance Bank says the approval covers acquiring up to 9.95% of the bank’s paid-up share capital and voting rights.
Both outlets report that the RBI approval is communicated via a letter dated September 8, 2026, and received by AU Small Finance Bank on Wednesday through a regulatory filing. The approval applies not only to ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, but also to related schemes of ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, alternative investment funds managed by the asset manager, and clients under its portfolio management services, as described by the bank.
The clearance comes with conditions. It is subject to compliance with provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, and RBI directions, as well as the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, SEBI regulations, and other applicable statutes, regulations and guidelines.
