Martin Herlihy is leaving NBC’s Saturday Night Live after five seasons, according to multiple outlets. The comedian, who joined the show in 2021, departs ahead of upcoming programming changes linked to the series’ next season.
Herlihy is known for work with the comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy, which also includes Ben Marshall and John Higgins. Sources report that he spent four seasons appearing on screen as part of the trio, in addition to later serving on SNL’s writing staff for Season 51. Variety also notes that the announcement comes amid a wider cast overhaul following Season 50.
Across reports, outlets describe the departure as another key cast loss as SNL heads toward Season 52. NBC declined to comment in at least one account, and details beyond the timing and his role are limited in the coverage.
