Nintendo releases a free update for Mario Kart World today that adds classic courses from the 1992 SNES game Super Mario Kart. Outlets report that the new tracks are available in Versus (referred to as “Vs Mode”), with 10 courses in total.
GameSpot and other coverage say the update includes courses such as Choco Island, Vanilla Lake, and Ghost Valley, and brings back gameplay elements associated with the original game, including the ability to ride over question-mark panels to obtain items. Engadget describes the update broadly as bringing multiple courses from the Super Mario Kart/SNES original.
Alongside the Versus course additions, Nintendo also adds two new routes to Mario Kart World’s Knockout Tour mode. Reports identify these tracks as Turnip Rally and Propeller Rally, and state that they arrive with the same free update today (version 1.8.0 is cited by GameSpot).
