Singapore’s terrorism threat level remains high, the Internal Security Department (ISD) says, pointing to risks linked to overseas developments and ongoing youth radicalisation.
In its latest Singapore Terrorism Threat Assessment Report, ISD reports that youth radicalisation continues to be a pressing concern. According to ISD, of eight cases dealt with under the Internal Security Act since July 2025, six involve youths under the age of 21. The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia both cite these figures and frame the pattern as part of a broader threat environment influenced by conflicts in the Middle East.
While both outlets focus on the same ISD assessment, their emphasis differs slightly: The Straits Times underscores that the threat is sustained and “fuelled” by Middle East conflicts, whereas CNA highlights the youth-heavy case breakdown under the Internal Security Act. Both present ISD’s message that radicalisation among young people remains a key driver of the threat outlook.
