Ant International, Mastercard and Visa are developing a Know-Your-Agent (KYA) interoperability framework to support AI-driven or “agentic” commerce and payments. The effort focuses on how payment ecosystems identify and onboard AI agents across different networks, wallets and marketplaces.
The companies say the framework is meant to streamline onboarding and identification for “trusted” agents while allowing each participating network to keep its own verification standards and decisioning or risk-control processes. Rather than replacing existing controls, the approach uses shared principles so parties can exchange sufficient information to recognize agents that have been vetted.
Both outlets describe the collaboration as an interoperability initiative that brings together a card network and major digital payment players with Ant International. TechNode frames it as a development of a KYA framework for AI payments, while the Financial Post emphasizes scaling agentic commerce and interoperability among card networks, digital wallet ecosystems, agent platforms and marketplaces. The common point across reporting is that the framework targets cross-ecosystem agent identification without requiring uniform risk rules across networks.
