IMDb is adding a new professional category called “Digital Creator” to IMDb and IMDbPro. The change gives streamers, vloggers, influencers, video essayists and other online creators a dedicated way to represent their work and connect with audiences and industry peers. Reporting across outlets says the category is designed to let creators be listed by their online craft rather than relying on traditional film or television credentials.

According to IMDb, “Digital Creator” functions as a professional designation that creators can place on their profiles. Creators can include multiple professions on one page, so someone who is also an actor can represent both roles in the same location. Several sub-professions are included to specify the kind of online work, such as “Streamer,” “Vlogger,” “Video Essayist,” “Video Creator,” “Gaming Creator,” and “Influencer.” Outlets also note that no existing film or TV credits are required to create a Digital Creator profile.
