Former NFL running back LeShon Johnson is sentenced to five years in federal prison for operating a dogfighting ring in Oklahoma, federal prosecutors say. Authorities seize 190 dogs from his operation, which the U.S. Department of Justice describes as the largest number taken from a single individual in a federal dogfighting case.
According to reporting, Johnson is convicted on multiple felony counts related to dogfighting activities. The counts include possession, sale, transport, and delivery of dogs for fighting. In addition to the prison term, the sentence includes three years of supervised release and a $30,000 fine.
