T-Mobile says it will charge customers $5 per month to use Apple’s iPhone Handoff feature in iOS 27. The feature lets a single phone number be shared across two iPhones, with one device acting as the “main” phone and the other as the “secondary” device.
At launch, support is limited to T-Mobile users in the U.S. and Deutsche Telekom users in Germany. Both sources say iPhone Handoff requires carrier participation and is intended for compatible iPhone models. T-Mobile indicates that services such as calls, texts, data, and mobile hotspot work on both devices with an eligible plan. When enabled, the active device switches automatically as a user unlocks one of the iPhones, with the number active on only one iPhone at a time.
Apple’s implementation also depends on iOS 27 settings and account requirements, including two iPhones on iOS 27 or later, connected to Wi-Fi, signed into the same Apple Account, and with iMessage and Messages in iCloud enabled. The outlets do not report any change to the price from Apple’s side, and both focus on T-Mobile’s monthly fee for the carrier-supported feature.
