Anthropic publishes an economic model projecting how generative AI could reshape the US economy by 2030, offering three scenarios with different levels of growth and job disruption. The most extreme case estimates an economy about a third larger than it would otherwise be, alongside knowledge-work unemployment near 18%.
Anthropic releases the analysis as an interactive scenario explorer dated 10 September. The scenarios span outcomes from mild impact to what the company describes as a boom without historical precedent. Euronews reports one scenario with GDP growth of about 15% per year and nearly a fifth of office workers unemployed, while The Next Web highlights that the largest unemployment figure is close to 18% among knowledge workers.
While both outlets focus on the same set of projections, they emphasize different elements: one stresses the range from low to high disruption, and the other spotlights the growth rate and the unemployment level in the highest-growth scenario.
