The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) renews its arrangement with Wicknell Chivayo’s company, Intratek, for the Gwanda Solar Project and sets a 24-month ultimatum for progress. ZPC is revising the terms of the deal for the project, which is valued at about US$172 million.

Both outlets say the decision comes years after earlier issues with the project. They report that about eight years ago, Intratek allegedly failed to complete work and did not install any solar panels, prompting later scrutiny and changes around the contract. In the current round of talks, the focus is described as turning to pricing, with discussions involving government and Intratek.

The coverage aligns on the key elements: ZPC’s revised deal, Intratek’s involvement under Chivayo, the project’s reported value, and the 24-month deadline. Differences, where present, are largely limited to framing rather than the central facts reported.
