Suspected armed attackers kill four mobile police officers and at least seven to eight civilians in an attack on the Ayilamo farming community in Tombo Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident reportedly starts late on Thursday night and continues into Friday morning, with the bodies of the officers later recovered from the bush.
According to residents, more than 200 gunmen enter Ayilamo through the Alufu Road axis from neighbouring Taraba State and then advance through the community, firing indiscriminately and setting several houses ablaze. A resident statement also places Ayilamo along the Abinsi–Tyulen–Anyiin–Wukari/Anyii–Wukari axis, describing it as a location that experiences repeated attacks. Sources describe a prolonged gun battle in which a detachment of mobile policemen stationed in the community engages the invaders, who later retreat.
