A woman says she mistakenly transferred ₦1.64 million to an account linked to Pastor Jerry Eze’s church, Streams of Joy International, and later recovered the full amount after the church refunded her.
Reports identify the woman as Sandra Okpara. She says she intended to make an offering of about ₦1,000 but sent over ₦1.6 million. After realizing the error, she approached her bank, which reportedly told her that recovering the money would require a court order. She then posted a public appeal online, describing that the money did not belong to her.
Across the outlets, the central development is consistent: the church investigates, contacts Okpara, confirms the transaction, and refunds the amount. Nigerian Eye adds that the refund follows a viral video appeal and that a statement on X by the church says it transferred her money back. The Punch and Vanguard similarly report that the refund takes place after the mistaken transfer is verified, while Legit.ng frames the refund as resulting from the church’s investigation confirming her claim.
