Organisers of the TCS London Marathon announce a record number of applications for the 2027 race ballot. Multiple outlets report that more than 1.3 million people have entered the ballot, with figures cited around 1.33 million. The event is scheduled for 25 April 2027. The Guardian adds that the number represents about 1.8% of the UK adult population, amounting to more than one million applications from UK residents, alongside further entries from international runners.
The Guardian also notes that the 2027 total is up on the 1.13 million entries for the 2026 race and more than double the amount received in 2024, reflecting continued growth in demand for places. The Evening Standard quotes London Marathon Events chief executive Hugh Brasher describing the level of interest as “astonishing,” and linking it to London’s popularity among marathon runners.
