The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reports intercepting two shipments of synthetic cannabis “Colorado/Colos” smuggled into Nigeria from the United Kingdom. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi says operatives at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, seized parcels of Colos concealed in consolidated cargoes.
The outlets also describe additional seizures in Lagos, where officers uncover consignments of Colos hidden inside music speakers at motor parks, leading to arrests. In one case, a real estate agent is detained after attempting to collect a consignment using a secret code sent from the UK; a subsequent operation results in another recipient’s arrest. Other details include arrests linked to consignments intended for onward movement to Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia, as well as an attempt to dispatch Colos to Kano.
Both reports place the interceptions within a broader NDLEA crackdown that also includes seizures of other drugs and arrests in multiple states. They further note the agency’s public awareness efforts under its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) programme, alongside statements urging continued action at airports, seaports, land borders, and cannabis cultivation sites.
