A new report finds that only a small fraction of Nigeria’s primary health centres (PHCs) meet national staffing requirements. According to the assessment, 97% of PHCs in 16 states fail to meet the country’s minimum staffing standards, leaving just 3% in compliance.
The findings come from the PHC Operational Capability Report, produced by Orodata Science and Civic Tech. It evaluates PHC facilities across 277 local government areas across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The report focuses specifically on whether PHCs have the staffing levels set out in national standards.
