OCTA Research reports that 64% of Filipinos say their district representative in the House of Representatives is “doing a good job.” The figure comes from the second quarter “Tugon ng Masa” survey, released in the Philippines by multiple outlets citing OCTA.
Both sources describe the finding as reflecting a distinction between a voter’s specific congressman or congresswoman and Congress as an institution. OCTA notes that people “separate ‘my congressman’ from ‘Congress’ as an abstract body.” In separate but related results mentioned by the outlets, support levels for the House itself are lower, with about 38% of Filipinos saying they trust the House of Representatives and around 37% indicating trust in the body.
Overall, the outlets align on the central statistic about satisfaction with individual district representatives and OCTA’s interpretation of how respondents differentiate personal performance from institutional trust.
