Samsung Display announces a new, high-brightness LTPO OLED smartphone panel using its M16 luminescent material, which is now tied to upcoming devices including the iQOO 16. The panel is positioned as a major brightness upgrade, with Samsung describing an extreme peak local brightness level of up to 10,000 nits for short bursts in small areas of the screen.
Multiple outlets report that iQOO will launch the iQOO 16 with this Samsung M16 OLED display. Android Central and NDTV say the phone’s display is a 2K (higher than Full HD) panel with a refresh rate up to 165Hz, emphasizing responsiveness for gaming. NDTV further adds that the display uses Samsung’s second-generation LEAD 2.0 technology, which is designed to improve power efficiency while boosting brightness. GSMArena also links the M16 material to other upcoming Apple device lines, but the iQOO 16-specific debut is presented as the near-term rollout of the panel.
