The Philippine weather bureau (PAGASA) says a low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression and may enter the country’s monitoring zone in the coming days. In separate advisories, PAGASA reports the system is east of Eastern Visayas, with the last available track positions in the mid–2,600 kilometer range.
PAGASA describes the depression as having maximum sustained winds of about 55 kph near the center, with gusts reaching roughly 70–75 kph. It moves west-southwestward at higher speed in one bulletin and later moves north-northeastward more slowly in another. The bureau also indicates impacts are expected to be limited to weather effects such as localized thunderstorms and rains, rather than a direct landfall.
The outlets align on the system’s development from an LPA and its distance east of Eastern Visayas, but they differ in timing, direction and reported movement speed in their latest bulletins, reflecting the system’s updated track guidance.
