Multiple outlets report a behind-the-scenes dispute on the 2019 film “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” involving director Quentin Tarantino and actor Brad Pitt. The account comes from co-star Bruce Dern, who describes an exchange during a scene in which Dern’s character, blind ranch owner George Spahn, is awakened by Pitt’s Cliff Booth. Dern says Pitt cut the camera and told the crew to stop recording, before he looked to understand what was happening. According to Dern, Tarantino then appeared “insanely grave” and asked Pitt, “What did you just do?” Dern says Tarantino warned Pitt that Pitt would be “dead in this business” if he cut the camera again, describing it as Tarantino’s domain. Dern adds that Pitt later told Tarantino that the exchange was not in the script. The reports also note that Dern improvised a new line after the crew resumed filming. Representatives for Pitt and Tarantino did not immediately respond to requests for comment in at least one report.
