HFCL’s board approves further capital expenditure to expand manufacturing capacity for optical fibre, optical fibre cables and preform. The company plans to raise planned capex to ₹1,800 crore, adding new capacity across these segments following the approval.

The decision comes on top of previously approved investments. NDTV reports that the incremental approval totals ₹820 crore and notes this adds to an earlier aggregate capex of about ₹980 crore already approved for optical fibre, optical fibre cable and preform manufacturing projects. Together, the approvals support scaling production capacity in the optical communications supply chain.

Across the two outlets, the emphasis differs mainly in framing: Business Line highlights the expanded planned capex total and the manufacturing areas to be added, while NDTV focuses on the additional ₹820 crore approved by the board and the relationship to prior capex figures.
