Police authorities in several states present welfare cheques to families of officers who died in active duty. Across reports, the commands urge families to use the funds for immediate needs and future security, while officials commend the sacrifice of the deceased. Nigerian Eye and The Punch both cite the same Katsina cheque total of ₦28,012,584.70 and the number of beneficiary families as 25.
Separate payouts are also reported in other states. The Punch says Kwara pays cheques totalling ₦10.6 million to 19 families of deceased officers, and Ekiti provides insurance benefit cheques worth ₦9.8 million to beneficiaries of fallen officers. It also reports Jigawa pays over ₦25.9 million to 25 families through the state Commissioner of Police.
