Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker Bathiya Wesley denies reports that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for another party. The rumours circulate amid political developments in the state’s ruling party bloc, with Wesley rejecting the claims as untrue.
According to Nigerian Eye, the allegations emerge less than 24 hours after former Speaker Kabiru Mijinyawa, representing Yola South, and thousands of his supporters defect to the Action People’s Movement (APM). An APC executive member is cited as claiming Wesley sought to switch parties to improve his chances of securing an election ticket after being denied one within the APC. Wesley’s camp, through his Press Secretary Bernard Hyellamada, dismisses the story and says Wesley is committed to the APC until after the 2027 general elections.
