Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi,” who is an APC governorship candidate for Ogun State in 2027, threatens legal action over allegations that he is an Ekiti State indigene. In a statement attributed to his media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, Adeola tells two individuals to present evidence or face lawsuits for defamation.
The allegations were raised in separate national television interviews. Abayomi Hunye, a suspended APC member, and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello each insist that Adeola lied about his origin, describing his Ogun claims as false. Adeola says the claims are unsupported and that one respondent could not specify where in Ekiti he is from. He also disputes the other allegation, saying it involves contested statements about his family’s graves.
Vanguard and Nigerian Eye both report that Adeola gives the two individuals a 24-hour deadline to produce evidence. The Punch similarly frames the development as a legal threat by the Ogun APC candidate in response to claims of Ekiti origin, citing his reaction to the interview statements and the potential use of such allegations in earlier political contests.
