Rolls-Royce has revealed a one-off Phantom commissioned with an avian theme: the Phantom Hummingbird. The vehicle’s distinctive look comes from an extensive use of iridescent abalone shell material intended to mimic the shimmering, feather-like appearance of a hummingbird.
The reports describe a lengthy development and application process. Carscoops says the company spends more than nine months mastering the new material and applying it to the car, highlighting the effort required to work with abalone shells. Wallpaper Magazine similarly frames the project as a private commission and emphasizes the laborious application of the iridescent shell elements to achieve the desired effect.
Across the outlets, the core focus is consistent: this is a bespoke, single example of the Phantom, featuring abalone shells chosen specifically for their color-shifting qualities.
