General Motors says it is bringing back Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its vehicles, reversing an earlier plan to phase out the smartphone features. The updated infotainment system is set to debut in the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and 2027 GMC Sierra.
The outlets describe the decision as a change in direction from GM’s prior communications and product strategy. In 2023, GM announced it would move away from CarPlay and Android Auto, citing a shift toward built-in, homegrown software.
