Suspected armed herders ambush the escort of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, killing two police officers. The attack occurs as the DPO returns from official travel to Makurdi.
Community accounts say the incident happens around 6pm on Monday. Newly deployed Mobile Police officers traveling from Ayilamo to meet and escort the returning DPO are attacked and killed. The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirms the assault and says the DPO went to Makurdi to collect items before being attacked on the return trip.
