Apple adds the 2019 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display to its Vintage Products list. The update follows Apple’s recent inclusion of three other MacBook models in that same category, according to reporting from 9to5Mac.
Once on the vintage list, a Mac is treated differently from an “obsolete” product for repair purposes. Apple says vintage items can receive repairs only if Apple has parts available, though that availability is not guaranteed. The vintage designation applies five years after the product is last sold, while products move to the obsolete list at seven years, which makes them ineligible for repair.
MacRumors notes that this 2019 model is the last Intel 21.5-inch iMac and that it predates the redesigned M1 iMac released in 2021. The 2019 21.5-inch model is described as having a 21.5-inch Retina 4K display and the standard silver iMac design, with repairs handled through Apple Stores and authorized service providers if parts remain available.
