HBO Max unveils “Rush,” a new medical drama set in Paris, in France following efforts to expand its original programming internationally. The project is introduced at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, with the working title “Rush” reported by outlets covering the announcement.

Variety adds that HBO Max also greenlights a second French original, “Bodycam,” described as a police horror-thriller. Both projects are slated to begin shooting this fall. Deadline and Variety link the initiatives to HBO Max’s broader strategy to replicate the performance of recent medical drama success, including “The Pitt,” referenced by HBO Max content boss Sarah Aubrey earlier this year. Both outlets agree on the festival unveiling, the French focus, and that production is scheduled to start in the fall, while they differ in the emphasis on the “Rush” medical drama’s inspiration versus the broader slate expansion that includes “Bodycam.”
