Adidas confirms it is reducing a number of roles within its Technology organisation in India, in connection with job cuts at its Gurgaon technology hub. Multiple Indian outlets report that the affected workforce is roughly half of the hub’s staff, with figures cited around 350 employees.
Reports say the changes are communicated to employees during a town hall on September 15, and that workers are handled in different groups. One group receives exit letters the same day, while a second group is asked to continue working until mid-December to complete handovers and seek other roles. Outlets also identify roles reportedly affected as including software engineers, data scientists and data engineers.
While Adidas confirms the role reduction, it does not disclose how many employees or which job functions are affected. The company says the changes align its operating model with business needs, simplifying parts of the organisation and strengthening capabilities. It also states it will support affected employees with transition assistance, and that India remains an important market for the company.
