Walmart says its first-party commerce intelligence platform, Scintilla, is set for a major upgrade next year. The company announced at the Walmart Data Ventures’ Inspire conference that Scintilla will gain access to additional marketplace data and deeper artificial intelligence capabilities.

The update is designed to help merchants and suppliers use retail data more effectively. Walmart Data Ventures says the focus is shifting from simply accessing more information to enabling “action” on that data, including through AI-powered features embedded in Scintilla.

Across the coverage, both outlets describe the same core changes: new AI tools for the platform and expanded data inputs tied to the marketplace. The emphasis differs slightly, with Modern Retail highlighting the addition of marketplace data alongside “deeper AI” functionality, while PYMNTS focuses on AI features meant to help suppliers act on retail insights.
