A fire breaks out at the Pampang Public Market in Angeles City, Pampanga, on Wednesday, Sept. 16, damaging part of the market. The blaze displaces dozens of stall owners, and no casualties are reported.
The Bureau of Fire Protection in Angeles City declares the fire “contained” early Thursday, but firefighters remain on scene to fully extinguish the blaze. The Inquirer.net report says the fire affects the market’s sari-sari (mixed goods) section.
Following the incident, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin II orders a temporary closure of the sari-sari and wet sections of the market as a safety precaution. Police officers assist with the shutdown and enforcement while responders continue their work.
