Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes is not sent off for a kick to Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez during Arsenal’s 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium, following an independent review by the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel.
The incident happens in the early stages of the first half as Gabriel attempts to clear a loose ball. Martinez receives medical treatment after the contact, and former player Wayne Rooney later says Gabriel was “extremely lucky” not to be shown a red card.
Across reports, the central point is that the KMI panel “unanimously” supports the match officials’ decision not to review or upgrade the offence to a red card.
