Apple is adding user profiles to the Apple TV app on iPhone with the iOS 27.2 beta. Multiple outlets report that the update extends a feature that previously existed on Apple TV’s tvOS side to the iOS version of the app.
In iOS 27.2, users create profiles from account settings and can switch between them. Reported profile details include a name, a profile rating, and whether the profile is for a child. For child profiles, content is restricted by default to a PG rating, with options to customize age-based ratings for TV shows and movies.
The feature’s rollout is described as part of a broader iOS/iPadOS 27.2 update that brings Apple TV profiles to mobile devices. While one source highlights the arrival of iOS 27.2 beta 1 and focuses on the iPhone change, the other also notes that tvOS 26.2 introduced profiles earlier, and that profiles are being expanded rather than newly invented for Apple’s platforms.
