Chinese director Zhang Yimou is named Jury President for the main competition at this year’s Busan International Film Festival, which runs October 6–15. He leads a seven-member jury tasked with selecting films in the festival’s primary competition.
According to multiple outlets, the panel includes Chinese filmmaker Bi Gan, Korean actress/producer Moon Choi, and Japanese filmmaker Kei Ishikawa, along with Cannes Best Actress winner Samal Yeslyamova. Additional jurors are also part of the group, bringing the total to seven members. Several sources link the selection to recent regional and international work, including Bi Gan’s 2025 film “Resurrection,” which was previously in Busan’s competition, and Moon Choi’s involvement in “Bedford Park,” where she is credited as producer and actor.
